The specimen above was found in a lowershore pool in a sample of Coral Weed, Corallina officinalis, taken from the base of the promenade wall at Chimney Rocks, Penzance, Cornwall. 25.03.15.

The species here was previously thought to be Euphilomedes interpuncta (Baird, 1850) Poulsen, 1962; but Christina Espirito Santo has informed me that the former species has a rougher surface and that the specimen here is very simillar indeed to a species of Parasterope that occurs in Portuguese waters.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
