The Sweet Chestnut, Castanea sativa, is not a true Sea Bean or seed, chestnuts often fall into streams and rivers and enter the sea and wash-up on beaches, especially on the strandline, the high tide mark.

The chestnut above was found on the high tide mark at Langstone Rock, Dawlish Warren, Devon. 21.04.16.
