Numerous specimens, male and female were found in tubes on various red and green algae that were found on a partially submerged car tyre on the pontoon off Saltash Green, Saltash, Cornwall, 04.07.22.

Whilst the identification appears to agree with Lincoln, BRITISH MARINE AMPHIPODA: GAMMARIDEA, British Museum (Natural History) London 1979, the identification is subject to verification. This is why a question mark has been added to the scientific name here.

Spooner in the Plymouth Marine Fauna reports Jassa marmorata and Stenothoe valida as often being found together on floating structures, boys etc. at Plymouth.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
