This non-native species is brackish water / low salinity species, from the Gulf of Mexico. The species has been transported around the world, including Europe, in ships ballast water.

Specimens were originally collected at Hellevoetsluis in Holland. They are part of the marine collection of Stella Turk M.B.E., images taken 26.02.16.
