Pododesmus rudis, the False jingle shell, is a non-native species and is featured here because the species has been found twice by Steve Trewhella, inside bait jars that have been washed-up on Chesil Beach in Dorset.

The shell featured above is not from Dorset but was purchased for photographic and purposes of reference. 07.01.16. The specimen here was found by a scuba diver at 50-65ft on a rocky bottom at San Antonio Este, Rio Negro Province, Argentina. (Col. 2/2008).

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
