Numerous specimens were found in a sample of Oscillatoria, a blue-green algae / cyanobacteria, that was collected from the propeller. of an old fishing boat in Newlyn Harbour. The Oscillatoria species and Nassula sp. were found in fully saline conditions only receiving freshwater from rainfall. The propeller is in full shade as north facing, and protected from wind because of the old trawlers sheltered location near the Fish Market on North Pier, Newlyn Harbour, Newlyn, Cornwall, 07.05.16.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
