- vents of buoy 1
Above, part of a sample of fifty or more specimens that were found inside the vents of an American vented fishing buoy, which was found at Gwynver, near Sennen, Cornwall. 24.02.16. Anomia simplex and Ostrea equestris bivalve molluscs were also found inside the vents of the buoy suggesting a NW Atlantic origin, possibly Florida. Homotrema rubrum also occurs in the English Channel.

Hole bearer or foram
Homotrema rubrum
- found on inside wall of drum 1
Specimens above were found on the inner wall of a five gallon drum that had washed up at Gwithian, near Hayle, Cornwall. 11.02.16.
The drum was interesting in that its handle and spout was smothered in polyps of the Thimble jellyfish, Linuche unguiculata. Two lower valves of the bivalve Ostrea equestris were also found inside the drum, which is very suggestive of a NW Atlantic origin for the drum and the foram.
Homotrema rubrum is a shallow water species occuring in the NW Atlantic, including Florida and the Bahamas, but also in the NE Atlantic in the English Channel.
