Red chironomidae larvae were found among green filamentous algal sheets that covered the bottom of the millpool at West Looe, Cornwall, 17.02.22. Whilst the algal mass seemed quite anoxic due to decomposition the overall salinity was reasonably high given the presence of tunicates, mysids and prawns in the local vicinity.

Red chironomidae larvae were found in pools on saltmarsh at The Pill, Westward Ho!, Devon, 09.04.17.
