Numerous specimens, maximum length 1.8mm, were found in the tens, if not hundreds, under rocks below the high tide mark, on the uppershore of Carnsew Pool, Hayle, Cornwall, 20.04.17. Species was found with the isopod Paragnathia formica, the nemertean Prosorhochmus claparedii, and another springtail, Anurida maritima.
The author sent specimens to Dr. Peter Shaw at Roehampton Unversity, and Dr. Shaw kindly identified the species as Archisotoma pulchella. This was not without some trouble because all the specimens that were sent were female. Dr. Shaw had to clear the specimens in acid before squashing them to look at the mouthparts, which he used to determine the species.
