This 30mm long inflorescence was found on the strandline / high tide mark at Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Cornwall. 23.02.16.

It is unknown if this is from a local garden or if it has drifted from across the Atlantic. The winter of 2015/16 has been one of the best winters for sea beans in Cornwall in living memory.

Species has both types of florets, which support it being a member of the asteraceae / compositae, but so far numerous people have failed to identify it.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
