Numerous specimens found on a vertical wall just about the low tide level on an extra low tide at Watermouth Cove Holiday Park (private beach), near Ilfracombe, Devon, 16.06.18.

The orange-red spot seen at the top of the colony images is quite typical for this species. Morchellium argus has four red spots at the head of the zooid but this species only has one.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
