The salp specimen here was found on the strandline washing up at Sennen Cove, Cornwall. 12.11.23. A female of the amphipod amphipod Phronima sedentaria was found inside the salp, the amphipod was brooding approximately 32 well developed juveniles as seen in the images.

I am very grateful indeed to Dr. Michael Vos who's child found the specimen and together passed it on to the author of this website so it could be photographed.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
