Not a common species by any means but where found can be plentiful. Being found mainly on the south coast of England and NW Scotland. In Cornwall it is best looked for on the south coast, around St. Austell Bay, Helford Passage, Fowey or around Falmouth. It is quite a common find at Crinnis Beach near St. Austell. It's red striped shell is a giveaway as to what it is.

Images taken at Crinnis Beach (Carlyon Bay), St. Austell, Cornwall.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
