Shell above purchased as reference specimen and is in a private collection in Cornwall. Specimen was collected on sand and mud near breakwater by a fisherman at La Garrocha Bay, Malaga, Andalucia, Spain. 14.03.2009.

The species occurs as a non-native in the French part of the Bay of Biscay, Galicia (Spain) and the Azores; so the species could one day come to the UK as many species increase their range.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
