This sponge is typically found on and associated with shells containing a hermit crab. The specimen here was found growing on a whelk shell containing the hermit crab Pagurus bernhardus, it was found on a small spit on the extreme lowershore on the River Tamar at Henn Point, Saltash, Cornwall. 12.09.22.
