The female specimen above was found in a sample of algae collected from pools on the middleshore at Portreath, Cornwall, 21.04.18. It appears that juveniles of this species mature inside the brood pouch. The diet of these juveniles likely consists of smaller less developed juveniles and or eggs found inside the brood pouch.

Species here originally confirmed by Dr. Graham Bird.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
