The small 4mm long specimen above was found under a submerged overhang in a deep pool on the extreme lowershore on an extra low water spring tide at Albert Pier reef, Penzance, Cornwall. 09.05.20.

This species is known to be common among the reef building worm Sabellaria alveolata, the Honeycomb worm, which is present at the location. However another species of Sabellaria, Sabellaria spinulosa is abundant where the worm was found.

Species very kindly verified by Dr. Andrew Mackie.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
