A single 24mm specimen was found by author of this website in a scrape sample taken from a pontoon at Newlyn Marina, Newlyn, Cornwall. 03.01.17.

The specimen here has been divided into two pieces, one for DNA sequencing, the other fixed to study anatomical detail. It will be sent to Sweden as part of an on going study into cryptic species within the Eumida cf. sanguinea complex.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
