The specimen above was found in a small scrape sample of coralline algae taken from the very shallow sublittoral on an extra low spring tide on the west side of Hannafore Point, Hannafore, Cornwall, 01.04.22.

The most unusual thing about this nemertean is that it has five pairs of eyes. The two pairs of cephalic furrows suggests the species could be a Psammamphiporus or Nemertopsis, the stylet appears to be Tetrastemma-like so I'm quite unsure about the identification of this one and especially given it has five pairs of eyes, two pair would be normal.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
