A small species of oligochaete found among the fine green thread-like algae Rhizoclonium tortuosum, found on permanently wet dune cliff with running fresh water. Rocks in the area are mainly of slate but there is sandy tufa present and recent tufa deposition over the slate, especially where water trickles down it. Specimens found at the base of a dune cliff near Lelant, Hayle, Cornwall, 01.12.16.

Marionina southerni was identified by sequencing. One of nine specimens sent proved to be Marionina argentea.

I am sincerely grateful to Professor Christer Erséus, for his help with identifiying these species.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
