The 3.4mm mature egg carrying female specimen above was found on sieving clean sand just beyond the low tide mark near Western Cressars reef, Penzance, Cornwall, 05.07.20.

The specimen above was found on sieving sublittoral sand just beyond the low tide mark on an extreme low tide between Western Cressars and Cressars, Penzance, Cornwall, 28.04.21.
Care must be taken with identifying this species, even microscopically, as it can be easily confused with the genus Synchelidium, its visual appearance is very similar indeed. Synchelidium species are also likely to occur with Pontocrates altamarinus.
