Two specimens were discovered in a small sample obtained from washing five short fronds of bryozoan (Amathia) covered Saw Wrack, collected subtidally on a moderately low tide in front of Ashtorre Rock Community Center, Saltash, Cornwall, 19.11.21.

- eating Snail Fur 1

The specimen above was found on a whelk shell covered with a hydroid called Snail Fur, Hydractinia echinata, which it was grazing. The whelk also housed the hermit crab, Pagurus bernhardus. The specimen was found on the lowershore in front of the pillar for Brunel's railway bridge at Ashtorre Rock, Saltash, Cornwall, 15.06.22.

I am very grateful to Marco Faasse for his species confirmation.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
