I suspect the species seen on the Saw wrack here is a fungus although rather sadly I did not follow it up microscopically at the time. At the time of finding this I wasn't aware of such things as marine fungi.

Species found in middleshore pool at Spit Point, Par, near St. Austell, Cornwall. 27.06.10. Species not specific to Fucus serratus, was seen on other species of algae in the same pool.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
