I suspect the species seen here is a fungus although rather sadly I did not follow it up microscopically at the time. At the time of finding this I wasn't aware of such things as marine fungi.

Species found in middleshore pool at Spit Point, Par, near St. Austell, Cornwall. 27.06.10. Species was also found on Saw wrack, Fucus serratus.
